T-CYSA Spring Newsletter - March 2010

Parking Donations on 3/20

This Saturday, the WSYSA District 6 girls tournament will be held at our Pasco soccer complex. As you arrive for Saturday's games, there will be parking attendants at each entrance accepting donations for the T-CYSA Scholarship fund. This money is provided to T-CYSA players who have difficulties affording our registration and uniform fees, allowing them to participate in our wonderful sport. Any donation you may be able to provide would be wonderful. If you are unable to help out, just a simple "Sorry, not today," would be great too.

Pictures Scheduled for 3/27

T-CYSA and Realife Photography have again teamed up to provide soccer pictures for any new teams that have formed for the spring season.

Pictures are scheduled for Saturday, March 27 at the T-CYSA soccer complex. We usually set up the outdoor photo studio close to field 9, in the southwest corner of our fields, closest to the highway.

Interested coaches are encouraged to sign up for a reservation slot on the Realife website. Click on the soccer ball at the site to start the reservation process.

Spring Jamboree on 5/8

The 2010 T-CYSA spring recreational jamboree is scheduled for May 8 at the Pasco soccer complex. The Jamboree is designed to provide young recreational players a tournament environment in a fun, low-pressure format. Any U6 to U14 recreational team is encouraged to enter by April 24. All players receive T-shirts, and U6-U7 players also receive medals. For more information, access to the registration form and associated fees, please visit the T-CYSA website.

Seattle Sounders Soccer Camp

Back for another year, the Seattle Sounders FC is scheduled to be at the T-CYSA soccer complex from June 28 to July 2. This camp is ideal for the beginning to intermediate player aged 4-15, but great for any soccer player looking to improve their game! The camp's goal is to provide your child with the best coaching available so that learning the game of soccer is enjoyable and fun. Through encouragement, motivation, in a positive, fun environment, your child is sure to receive a valuable camp experience! For more information, contact camp director Amy Carnell at amyc@soundersfc.com or 206-267-7802. To sign up for camp, visit the Sounders website.

President's Message - Rick Dawson

The calendar has already turned to March and thousands of our youth a busy practicing soccer throughout the Tri-Cities and playing games each Saturday at the soccer complex. I see that the number of youth we are serving continues to grow to the point that we may soon be looking for other venues to schedule games. Making the sport accessible to more of our youth is a source of pride, and an achievement owed to the dedicated volunteers and staff who make this run smoothly.

This growth does bring to the forefront one of our largest problems: volunteer support. Each of the members of the Board of Directors has had a child participate in this sport and works to make sure that our programs continue well into the future. Unfortunately several of our board are reaching the end of their terms, and new energetic replacements must be found. Soccer experience is not necessary; in fact, many of our group did not play soccer in their youth and only became involved as an adult. The only qualification is a desire to serve those that deserve the chance to play.

In the absence of a new slate of volunteers our great organization could well be in trouble. Three of the 4 members responsible for recruiting coaches and organizing teams are readying for retirement from the board. Your assistance is needed to continue to make this sport available for all and to maintain the foundation created by those that have served during the last 20 years.

Please don't wait or expect someone else to step forward. Any and all help is needed. Every volunteer who steps forward will only make the job easier and the result better for all of us. In the almost 30 years that I've been involved in youth sports I have found that the rewards of helping have provided a great benefit to the quality and meaning of my life, far outweighing the effort. Please contact any of your current board members for more information.
