T-CYSA Three Rivers Premier Tryouts
Before the Tryout
Attendance at the tryout session is mandatory.
If a player cannot attend
the scheduled tryout for their age group,
the player must apply (in writing) for an excused absence
from the Three Rivers Soccer Club (TRSC) Director
(Chris Smith).
Excused absence justification will be reviewed,
and if deemed appropriate,
granted by the TRSC Director.
For example, if a player is injured,
a doctor's note describing the injury will need to be submitted
with the written request for an excused absence.
The same thing for an illness,
a doctor's note describing the illness must be submitted.
All other non-medical requests will be evaluated
on a case-by-case basis.
If the excused absence is granted,
the player will be expected to attend any follow-on pool training
in order to be evaluated
(unless injury or illness prevents such participation).
If the excused absence is not granted
and the player does not attend tryouts on the scheduled date,
they will not be evaluated for a TRSC team.
Instructions:
-
Before attending a tryout,
you must
register online
for the Fall 2008 - Spring 2009 season.
-
Arrive at least 30 minutes early;
some age groups have a lot of players to check in.
-
Upon arrival,
check in with the tryout coordinators.
Players will then receive their tryout number,
which must be pinned to the front leg of their shorts.
Players can then move onto the tryout field
to start their warmup.
Parents are not permitted on the tryout field.
-
Bring a PLAIN white shirt and a PLAIN dark shirt
(no gray shirts).
Do not wear team shirts or jerseys.
-
Wear appropriate shoes and shinguards.
Shinguards should be worn under the socks.
-
Bring an age appropriate size soccer ball,
pumped up and marked with your name and phone number.
-
Bring plenty of water.
Players will be given water breaks,
during which they will stay in the tryout area.
Parents are to remain OUTSIDE of the tryout area.
-
Dress properly for the weather;
temperatures may be cold.
-
Do not wear any jewelry.
This includes necklaces,
rings and earrings of any kind,
and bracelets
(including Livestrong-style bracelets).
-
Check the tryout page
of the T-CYSA website
to confirm the schedule
before leaving to attend the tryout session.
Any delays,
cancellations,
or updates will be posted here.
During the Tryout
Our Coaching Director and his Coaching Advisory Staff (CAS),
along with the coaches for that age group,
will manage the tryouts.
The purpose of the tryout and the job of the CAS
is to find the right combination of players
to form the most competitive teams possible.
This does not always mean
that the most technically accomplished players are selected.
Skill on the field is obviously a very important factor,
but attitude,
vision,
work ethic,
and other less quantitative factors are also considered.
During each tryout session,
an evaluation team observes players
demonstrating their individual and team skills,
knowledge,
energy,
and attitude
in drills and/or small-sided and 11-a-side scrimmages.
After the Tryout
Player pools will be formed when numbers permit.
Notification of selection to the player pool
will be made by posting the player tryout numbers
on a page linked from the
tryout
page of the T-CYSA website
(check the Results column on the tryout schedule for the link).
Results will normally be posted
within 72 business hours of the completion of the tryout.
If a player's tryout number appears on the website,
they have been selected to continue in the player pool.
The player pool will train together for several weeks.
Coaches continue to evaluate players
during these training sessions.
At the end of pool training,
coaches contact chosen players
to invite them to play on one of the Premier teams
(A, B, etc.).
Players not chosen for a Premier team are contacted
and encouraged to tryout for a Select team at a later date.
Premier teams are competitive
and require a significant commitment
from both the player and the parents.
Premier players and parents
must sign a contract of expectations and guidelines
after they are accepted on a team.
Once a player has tried out,
been selected,
and accepted a position on a team,
the player is committed to that team.
Once a player has been placed on a team,
no registration fees will be refunded.
