T-CYSA Three Rivers Select Program
The Washington State Youth Soccer Association's District 6
administers the District Select League (DSL),
which provides an intermediate level of competition
and player development in the district (eastern Washington).
Tournaments
Select teams are expected to play in T-CYSA tournaments
and may choose to play in out-of-town tournaments (usually 1-2)
in the spring and summer.
Tournament locations may include
Pasco,
Yakima,
Spokane,
etc.
Tournaments provide wonderful developmental opportunities
for our players and coaches,
and should be viewed as an important team building activity.
Teams should fundraise to help offset
tournament and travel expenses.
League Play
U12-U14 Select teams play two season.
The fall season runs for about two months
(usually 8 games)
during September and October.
The spring season also runs for about two months
(usually 6-8 games)
during April and May.
Most games are played on Saturdays.
Some weekends may be doubleheaders
with either two games on Saturday
or one game on Saturday and one game on Sunday.
The boy's teams start their fall season
with the District 6 Boys Tournament,
and the girl's teams start their spring season
with the District 6 Girls Tournament.
Select teams for the older boys (U15 and above)
play a fall season only,
due to high school soccer in the spring.
Likewise,
Select teams for the older girls (U15 and above)
play a spring season only,
due to high school soccer in the fall.
Home games are played at the
T-CYSA Soccer Complex in Pasco.
Away games require travel throughout the district
(mainly eastern Washington,
but sometimes eastern Oregon and western Idaho).
League games seldom require overnight stays.
We strongly encourage players and parents to organize carpools
to minimize travel costs.
State Cup
Select teams are eligible to compete
in three of the State Cups:
the State Championship Cup (mostly Premier teams),
the Challenge Cup (mostly Premier and Select teams),
and the Commissioner's Cup
(mostly Select and Recreational teams).
The State Cups are held in January through March.
Participation typically involves one or two practices
and one game per week during Cup play.
Games usually require travel throughout the state.
Teams winning the State Championship Cup
advance to the Region IV Championship held in late June.
Commitment
Playing on a Select team
requires more commitment
(time, travel, and expense)
from the players and their parents
than playing on a recreational team,
but less than playing on a PDL or Premier team.
